Scala rider - Affordable bluetooth helmet add-on

When riding a motor bike, you obviously do not have your hands free to handle a mobile phone. Besides, wearing a helmet, you would not be able to use your phone anyway.

The use of headsets of the plug-into-the-ear type inside your helmet can be very uncomfortable, take it from somebody who knows. The obvious solution to this problem is of course a bluetooth enabled helmet. And it has been produced as well, but unfortunately was being sold at a price that simply put it out of reach for us mere mortals. However, after having waited quite some time, somebody else has stepped up to the challenge. Cardo Systems Inc. have produced a click-on bluetooth device that can be attached to the helmet.

By using a simple clamp, not screws or glue, the Scala Rider is attached to your helmet in less than 5 minutes. The microphone uses AVA Technology, something that automatically adjusts the speaker volume according to the noise & speed level your motorcycle is riding at. What’s more, there are other options to this gadget! You can fit the unit with a FM Radio with multiple station memory, and a remote control that can be fixed on your handle-bar.

The Scala rider, available at US$ 150.00, appears to be a very promising solution!
